Lebanon calls for US pressure on Israel

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun asked the United States to pressure Israel to cease its attacks on Lebanon and to adhere to the provisions of the framework agreement signed between the two sides under U.S. auspices. During a phone call with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Aoun emphasized that Israel continues its attacks on villages and towns in southern Lebanon, calling for an end to these assaults, Israel's commitment to the agreement's terms, a halt to excavation activities, and allowing farmers access to their lands. He pointed out that the army and security forces are continuing to implement decisions to ban armed displays, confiscate weapons, and combat smuggling, and that the judiciary is following up on all cases decisively. Aoun also highlighted that the negotiations led by the Lebanese side, despite delays due to regional developments, are still ongoing with the goal of ending Israel's war on Lebanon, achieving an Israeli withdrawal, securing the release of prisoners and displaced persons, and preventing the escalation of the conflict. He affirmed that Lebanon is working to avoid provoking the conflict further and underscores the importance of combining military and political solutions.
