Netanyahu Discloses Phone Call with al-Sharq

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed at a campaign rally a phone call he had with Syrian President Ahmed al-Shir on the events in Suwayda in July 2025, which resulted in the cessation of the deadly massacres in the area. He explained that the call was brief and decisive, contributing to the halt of violence between Druze militants and Bedouin tribes, with Israel intervening through airstrikes to support minority groups. Conversely, Syria rejected the politicization of the Druze community and asked for no interference in its internal affairs, affirming that Suwayda is an integral part of its national fabric. The events left over 1,700 people dead, and Syria confirmed its continued cooperation with the United States and Jordan to implement agreements aimed at stabilizing the region.
