Study links cigarette smoke to reproductive damage
The study indicates that cigarette smoke negatively affects the reproductive organs in animals through genetic and structural changes in the testes and ovaries. The results showed that exposure to cigarette smoke causes alterations in the microtubules within the testes and leads to changes in the activity of genes associated with sperm production and immune response regulation. In the ovaries, indicators of genetic changes related to cell division and DNA repair were observed, although no clear structural changes were detected. The findings, in conjunction with other studies, suggest that smoking may cause early menopause and impair ovarian function. The study calls for further research to gain a deeper understanding of smoking's impact on reproductive health.
