Italy and Spain to remove border restrictions
Italy and Spain have reached an agreement to lift the temporary border restrictions between them, which were imposed due to the flow of migrants from Morocco to the city of Ceuta. The Italian measures will continue for an additional week and will then be lifted simultaneously with the Spanish measures, according to an agreement made during the European Union summit in Brussels between Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and her Spanish counterpart Pedro Sánchez. This agreement comes after a severe deterioration in migration control during the summer, caused by the influx of tens of thousands of migrants from Morocco to Ceuta. Spain responded with a similar stance, leading to the implementation of surveillance measures on flights between the two countries, despite both being members of the Schengen Area.
