Kyiv heating crisis sparks mayor protests

The heating crisis in Kyiv has led to protests against the city's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, due to his failure to prepare for the winter season and to implement necessary measures to ensure heating supplies. This comes amid warnings that the energy systems will be unable to meet the needs of the population because of damage to infrastructure, the deterioration of the country's budget, and the increasing Russian attacks on infrastructure. The protests began with calls for the mayor's dismissal, while officials assured that efforts are underway to address the crisis, with expectations of the most severe winter since the start of the conflict in Ukraine.
