U.S. Urges Israel to Limit Settler Violence

International criticism has escalated, especially from Washington and Paris, against the Israeli settlers' attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank. This comes amid repeated acts of violence involving assaults on Palestinians, foreign solidarity activists, and diplomats, particularly during the olive harvest season. The United States has called on Israel to take strict measures to control the violence, after an American photojournalist was injured. Meanwhile, France has demanded accountability for those responsible for assaults on diplomatic delegations, condemning the attack on a French mayor and an European diplomatic entourage. Israel has responded by questioning the validity of these allegations, while European diplomats have affirmed that the attacks are real and that Israel is responsible for maintaining security in the area. Within Israel, there are criticisms regarding the escalation of "Jewish terrorism" and its impact on the country's reputation and security. During this period, thousands of olive trees were destroyed—an essential source of income for Palestinians—with approximately 750,000 settlers present in the West Bank.
