African Champions League: Swihli Wins Historic Match
Libyan club Al-Suwaihli achieved a historic start in the CAF Champions League by defeating Tunisian Espérance Sportive de Tunis with a 1-0 victory in the first leg of the second qualifying round, at the Misrata Stadium. The only goal was scored by Ayyoub Ayad in the 64th minute, and they maintained a clean sheet for the third consecutive match. This victory gives the Libyan team a strong chance to qualify for the group stage — if they draw or win the second leg in Tunisia — as any draw or a loss by less than 2-1 will secure their advancement. This is an unprecedented achievement for a Libyan club in encounters with Espérance. Conversely, a goalless draw or any narrow loss by just one goal would still give Al-Suwaihli a chance to eliminate the Tunisian team, marking a historic milestone for Libya in this tournament.
