British artist Gareth Fuller explores cities by creating intricate mental maps that reflect the hidden and historical meanings of the places he visits. His work may take years of wandering and extensive research to complete. Fuller uses his journeys to understand the true identity of these cities, which are expressed in his artwork through depictions of natural features, the environment, and emotional memory. He focuses on terrains such as rivers and hills and then blends these with cultural experiences and personal memories. Through his art, he aims to chart a map of emotional landscapes, expressing the relationship between place, memory, and imagination.
