Lavrov in Tehran for peace talks

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov visited Tehran, his first visit since the outbreak of the war in the Middle East, with the aim of mediating to end the conflict. The two sides discussed regional and international developments, focusing on ways to resolve the crisis resulting from American and Israeli aggression against Iran and the war’s impact on regional and global stability. The visit comes amid close relations between Russia and Iran, with increased military and economic cooperation since the start of the Ukraine war. The discussions primarily centered on preventing a return to large-scale war and tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, as diplomatic efforts between Tehran and Washington for de-escalation have encountered setbacks.
