Egypt's Support for Saudi Arabia

Egypt announced its support for Saudi Arabia in facing the ongoing threats from the Houthi movement. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi pledged to defend the Kingdom and confirmed his readiness to take military action if necessary. Institutional support was activated through a meeting of the National Defense Council, and Parliament approved a possible authorization for the armed forces, although the vote was postponed to next week due to differing opinions regarding the nature and scope of potential intervention. Two Egyptian military aircraft, a "Lockheed C-130" model, were spotted in Saudi airspace, reflecting Cairo's intent to bolster its military support. This development comes amid increasing fears of regional conflict expansion amid deteriorating security conditions in the area. It is also linked to Egypt’s economic and national security interests. Egypt remains a strategic ally of the Kingdom in confronting Houthi threats, emphasizing that its support is limited to defense and protection in line with Saudi directives, without engaging in direct attacks.
