UN: Israel blocking Lebanon peace efforts
The United Nations reported that the Israeli army obstructed the operations of peacekeeping forces in Lebanon over the weekend, including blocking a logistics convoy for UNIFIL and preventing the delivery of supplies to its sites, as part of ongoing restrictions on freedom of movement since October 2026. For decades, UNIFIL forces have served as a bridge between Lebanon and Israel, but military operations between Israel and Hezbollah have continued since 2023 despite peacekeeping efforts. The Security Council decided to end UNIFIL's mandate by the end of 2026, under U.S. pressure and the influence of regional tensions.
