Iraq and Iran agree to disarm Kurdistan separatists
An Iraqi-Iranian agreement has been reached to expel Iranian separatist groups from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The agreement stipulates either the removal of members of these terrorist groups or their handover to Iran, as part of the security cooperation between the two countries to enhance border stability and establish control over disputed areas. The agreement also aims to limit the activities of opposition groups stationed in northern Iraq, which Iran accuses of being involved in internal attacks and serving Western and Israeli interests. This came after Baghdad and Tehran signed a previous agreement to strengthen border security and reduce tensions, amid concerns over ongoing disputes and terrorism in the region.
