Eastern Libya approves maritime borders with Turkey
The Libyan House of Representatives in the eastern part of the country voted today to approve the memorandum of understanding signed between the Government of National Accord and Turkey in 2019, which defines the maritime boundaries between the two countries in the Mediterranean Sea, despite official criticism from Egypt. The council also annulled previous decisions rejecting this memorandum and cutting ties with Turkey. This decision comes amid a noticeable rapprochement between Turkey and East Libya, as Ankara supported the Government of National Accord militarily and politically during the conflict in 2019.
