The Lebanese authorities issued arrest warrants for officials from Hezbollah in connection with investigations into a shipment of explosives seized by security forces two weeks ago. The authorities detained a truck carrying 500 kilograms of explosives while it was transporting them from east Lebanon to Beirut. A Hezbollah official claimed that the explosives are part of the resistance’s capabilities to confront the Israeli occupation. The investigations have led to identifying the responsible individuals, and security forces are working to apprehend them. The party confirmed that the explosives belong to the resistance. This case is part of Lebanon’s broader efforts to disarm Hezbollah, which have coincided with a government plan for 2025 to confiscate the party’s weapons—although implementation has been stalled due to the ongoing war with Israel and regional factors related to the Iran conflict.
