Houthis Spokesperson Responds to Al-Azhar Sheikh on Peace Initiative

The article focused on the Houthi group's response to the Al-Azhar Sheikh's call for reconciliation in the Arab region. The Houthi spokesperson, Mohamed Abdel-Salam, expressed his welcome for the initiative and explained that the Yemeni people have never been a threat to Saudi Arabia or an aggressor against it. He clarified that the Saudi military intervention since 2015 has led to the loss of many lives and the destruction of infrastructure, and that the war has been unjustified both legally and legitimately. He also emphasized that Yemen has sought to resolve differences through dialogue rather than war and that Saudi Arabia adopted an aggressive plan against Yemen, pointing fingers at military escalation and the blockade, which have increased the suffering of the Yemeni people. He considered that a genuine solution requires dialogue and de-escalation to achieve peace. The article also discussed the Al-Azhar Sheikh's call to form a joint Arab and Islamic mediation committee to stop conflicts, emphasizing that fighting and discord weaken the Islamic and Arab nation and lead to the squander of its resources.
