Amina Erdoğan Urges Solutions for Children in War Zones
Aminah Erdogan, the wife of the Turkish President, called for addressing children's issues, especially those living in war zones who cannot envision a future for themselves. In her speech at a global summit in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, she emphasized the importance of investing in children's well-being to achieve sustainable and equitable development, focusing on meeting fundamental needs such as education, health, and security. She pointed out that children face complex challenges due to climate crises, wars, and forced migration, and that measures of children's well-being should go beyond traditional indicators to more accurately reflect reality. She called for global cooperation to ensure children's rights worldwide, particularly in conflict areas, where over 21,000 children have been killed in Gaza in the past three years, with many losing limbs or being deprived of education. She also highlighted Turkey's efforts to protect children from the risks of digital life and to expand foster care services, emphasizing that building a world free of war and crises requires supporting children in all circumstances.
