Misguided attack nearly triggered Lebanon-Israel crisis

A serious incident occurred between Israel and Lebanon when Israeli forces mistakenly carried out airstrikes on a Lebanese military vehicle in southern Lebanon, due to a technical malfunction in an Israeli armored personnel carrier that was remotely operated. The incident took place near the village of Ras Al-Abd, and did not result in any injuries or damages. However, it threatened to trigger a diplomatic crisis between the two countries and could impact their ongoing negotiations. According to an Israeli army statement, the incident is under investigation, and the Israeli military states that its goal was solely to target Hezbollah, emphasizing that the operation was unintentional and that Hezbollah's activities in the area are conducted under the cover of civilian presence.
