Yemen has experienced heightened security tensions regarding airports and air facilities, as the Houthis launched intensive attacks on airports in Saudi Arabia and Yemen, including Aden Airport and Riyan Airport, turning the area into a battlefield. The group targeted primarily the airports that serve as the most important air outlets for the Yemeni government. This coincided with attempts to halt flights between Sana'a and Tehran, as well as threats to target Saudi facilities and to destroy airport runways for political and military purposes. In response, Saudi and coalition forces conducted operations against Houthi positions. These attacks are viewed as an effort to assert Iranian influence and are escalating within the context of a broader regional conflict involving intersecting Iranian roles and military lines in Yemen.
