Lebanon Settlement Secrets Revealed

The film "The Road to Taif" presents behind-the-scenes footage of the Taif Agreement's drafting in 1989, which brought an end to the Lebanese Civil War that lasted 15 years and resulted in the death of over 200,000 people. The movie highlights the details of the diplomatic negotiations and military conflicts that led to the signing of the agreement, including the escalating clashes between Michel Aoun's forces and the Syrian army, as well as the Arab and international efforts led by the Tripartite Committee to achieve reconciliation. It illustrates how the Taif Conference contributed to restructuring the Lebanese political system by transferring powers to the cabinet and reaffirming the principles of parity and coexistence, thereby ending a whole decade of fighting and tensions.
