Geneva Talks: No Military Resolution in Sudan

An international meeting in Geneva emphasized that the solution to the Sudanese crisis must be political only. The participants called for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire to halt the fighting and for an end to external interventions that are exacerbating the war. Representatives from 22 countries and organizations stressed the importance of protecting civilians and facilities, rejected the creation of parallel governments, and affirmed the need to preserve Sudan’s unity and sovereignty, warning that the conflict could spill over into neighboring countries. Saudi Arabia reiterated its support for efforts to end the war and achieve peace, based on previous agreements, including the Jeddah Declaration.
