Global firms vie for Saudi cooling market

Local and international companies are competing to capitalize on Saudi Arabia's district cooling market, which is among the largest in the region. The value of projects currently under execution amounts to approximately $2.32 billion. These projects aim to improve energy efficiency and reduce operating costs, as cooling accounts for about 50% of total electricity consumption, rising to 70% during peak periods. Some of the most prominent projects include the district cooling plant at Diriyah Gate with a capacity of 72,500 tons, the NEOM project with a capacity of 200,000 tons, and other large-scale projects in Riyadh and the Eastern Province. Advanced technologies are being employed to lower temperatures and cut energy consumption.
