Egypt boosts renewables to 9GW in 3 months

Egypt has increased its renewable energy capacity to approximately 9 gigawatts during the third quarter of the current fiscal year, supported by storage systems with a capacity of 500 megawatt-hours. The country plans to implement new projects with a total capacity of up to 17.7 gigawatts by 2030. The main sources of renewable energy include hydroelectric power with a capacity of 2.982 gigawatts, wind energy at 3.006 gigawatts, and solar energy at 3.223 gigawatts, with ongoing and developing projects adding up to an additional 10.6 gigawatts from wind and 7.14 gigawatts from solar. These projects have contributed to a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by around 2.96 million tons and have saved the equivalent of 1.25 million tons of oil in fuel.
