Bahrain boosts consumer safeguards

The King of Bahrain, King Sadiq, approved Law No. (28) of 2026 to amend the Consumer Protection Law, implementing stricter regulatory procedures and penalties. The amendments include expanding the authorities of the relevant agencies, imposing daily fines of up to 2,000 Bahraini Dinars, and shutting down violating establishments for up to three months. Additionally, confiscation of illegal goods and equipment will be enforced upon conviction. The law also regulates promotional activities and warranties, granting affected parties the right to appeal and pursue judicial procedures. It will be effective starting from the day after its publication in the Official Gazette.
