Rare US Declaration copy found in UK archives

A volunteer at the UK National Archives discovered a rare early printing of the US Declaration of Independence, known as the Exeter printing, among 18th-century Royal Navy correspondence. This copy is one of only 11 surviving and the only one outside the US, originally printed in New Hampshire in July 1776. It was found among papers from the American privateer ship Dalton, captured by the British Navy, and had been forgotten in the archives for over two centuries.
