Fake air conditioner seller faces jail
A person named S. M. was tried on charges of fraud via Facebook. He exploited the communication platform to scam victims by offering used air conditioning units for sale and requesting money from them, including an amount of 33,500 Algerian Dinars from one victim. After receiving the money, he blocked the victim and ignored further contact. However, he was later targeted by the police, who uncovered that he had engaged in fraudulent transactions with other victims. He claimed that he did not intend to deceive; rather, he was experiencing financial difficulties, which led him to lose the victims’ money. He was referred to court, which sentenced him to one year in prison and a fine of 50,000 Algerian Dinars.
