Green team’s fighting spirit endures in World Cup
The message from the captain of the Algerian national team, Riyad Mahrez, ahead of the match against Austria in the context of the 2026 World Cup, affirmed that the fighting spirit and passion have not left the team despite the criticism faced after the Argentina game. Mahrez urged his teammates to play with high intensity and strong determination to qualify for the next round, emphasizing that writing history requires heart and resolve, and that victory is the team's main goal in the upcoming match against Switzerland. Additionally, Mahrez set a new world record by scoring two goals in a single World Cup match at the age of 35 years and 127 days. He is also the only Arab player to enter the historic list of the top players with multiple goals in a World Cup.
