Algeria to halt some document certifications from July 9
Starting July 9, 2026, Algeria will abolish the requirement for authentication of foreign public documents in accordance with the "Hague Apostille" Convention signed in 1961. Documents issued by certain government sectors will no longer require traditional consular authentication for use in parties to the Convention. Citizens will be able to obtain an Apostille certificate through a dedicated electronic platform or through the relevant authorities, as well as purchase stamps from post offices or tax offices. This measure aims to streamline the document authentication process and simplify administrative procedures.
