The National Gendarmerie in Algeria successfully dismantled a criminal network involved in the trafficking of psychoactive substances, particularly 300 mg “Pregabalin” tablets, after seizing more than 1,080 pills and arresting eight individuals. The case began when the police received information about the exploitation of a property for storing and selling drugs. Investigations led to the apprehension of 240 pills from one suspect and the discovery of them exiting his residence, along with the recovery of 90,500 dinars hidden inside an electrical meter box. Further inquiries revealed an organized activity involving the collection, transportation, and distribution of psychoactive substances using various vehicles, with roles systematically divided among the network members. The operation resulted in the seizure of over 1,080 psychoactive tablets. Seven members of the network were sentenced to prison terms of up to eight years and fines reaching two million dinars, while another individual was sentenced to 12 years in prison and fined three million dinars. An arrest warrant was issued for him, despite his denial of the charges.
