The Ministry of National Education's revisions to the schedules and subjects for the elementary stage will begin with the 2026-2027 academic year. The weekly instructional hours have been set at 21 hours for students in the first, second, and third grades, and 25 hours and 30 minutes for the fourth grade, aiming to improve the distribution of subjects and achieve a better balance in the curriculum. Arabic remains the subject with the largest share, with 11 hours per week in the first and second years, 7.5 hours in the third year, and 6.5 hours in the fourth year. Foreign languages are allocated two hours weekly for English in the second and third years, and two hours for French and three hours for Amazigh in the fourth year. There is also a new distribution of subjects including Mathematics, Science and Technology, Religious Education, Civic Education, History and Geography, Arts, and Sports. These revisions aim to enhance learning conditions and achieve a more balanced curriculum.
