The Algerian Ministry of Culture and Arts announced the launch of two main festivals dedicated to Rai music, aimed at preserving and promoting this musical heritage. An international Rai Song Festival was established in Oran to bring together artists and researchers from around the world, to enhance cultural exchange and raise international awareness of Rai after UNESCO recognized it in 2022 as intangible human heritage. Additionally, the national Rai Festival was reorganized in Sidi Bel Abbès, the birthplace of this art form, to strengthen its presence and develop its performance, with experts appointed to manage its events. These initiatives are part of a national strategy to preserve intangible cultural heritage and to enable active international participation in safeguarding and promoting Rai music.
