Evening – Ensuring public health and access to medicine
The President of the National Union of Algerian Private Pharmacists emphasized that ensuring the availability of medicines and maintaining stability in the healthcare market are among the key pillars of health security and national sovereignty. He highlighted the importance of institutional social dialogue to address challenges in the pharmaceutical sector, stating that a letter has been sent to the Pharmaceutical Industry Ministry to hold an urgent meeting to discuss pharmacists’ concerns and achieve supply stability. He clarified that rumors about medicine shortages lead to hoarding, illegal speculation, and monopolistic practices, which strain the distribution network and threaten medical security. He believes that the ministry is eager to consult with stakeholders to develop practical solutions that prevent disruptions and improve the availability of medicines. The union reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to conveying concerns and contributing to responsible dialogue aimed at protecting patients' interests and stabilizing the healthcare system.
