The National Gendarmerie forces in Zeralda succeeded in arresting two young men, one of whom is known by the nickname “Qazo,” in the presence of a quantity of cocaine and psychoactive substances suspected of being trafficked in the area. During the trial, the two defendants denied the charges against them; “Qazo” claimed that he does not own a mobile phone and affirmed his lack of connection to the seized materials, while the second defendant denied knowing “Qazo” and having any involvement in drug trafficking. He explained that the money he has is from his family’s legitimate sources. Regarding the drugs, he admitted to possessing 30 hallucinogenic pills but denied owning the cocaine. The defense requested acquittal, while the public prosecution recommended a 7-year prison sentence and a fine of 500,000 dinars.
