The death toll from attempted crossings into Spanish Ceuta from Morocco has risen to 18, amid thousands of migrants flocking to the city overnight, despite heavy security deployment aimed at preventing most of the attempts. The Spanish Interior Ministry announced that most of the migrants crossed before noon, pushing through both by land and sea from Morocco. Meanwhile, authorities have sent military and police reinforcements to Ceuta. Ceuta is a Spanish city with autonomous status located on the European border with Africa, and it regularly faces attacks by migrants seeking to reach Europe.
