Rights Group Highlights Morocco's Political Use of Marginalized Communities
Spain's Ceuta experienced an unprecedented mass exodus from Morocco, with around 60,000 migrants crossing swimmingly over the course of Thursday and Friday. This has resulted in the death of 67 people so far, according to the Spanish Civil Guard. The Moroccan Association for Human Rights warned that this event has left at least 130 victims and dozens missing, emphasizing that the crisis stems from accumulated social and economic marginalization, worsening corruption, limited prospects for youth, and poor government policies. It called for an independent investigation to hold those responsible accountable and stressed the importance of separating humanitarian policies from political goals. The association also urged structural reforms that ensure fair employment and development, while upholding human rights.
