Ten New University Dorms Opening Soon
The Algerian government plans to enhance the university services system by providing 10 new dormitories during the upcoming academic year, accommodating 17,000 beds. This will increase the total bed capacity to approximately 630,000 once the new dorms are completed. This initiative is part of efforts to improve the reception conditions for the 440,000 students residing in 467 university accommodations, aiming to ensure their comfort and upgrade the infrastructure of these facilities. The development also includes renovating thousands of wings, expanding the authority of university directors in renovation processes, improving the catering system through fixed contracts that reduce costs, and implementing electronic platforms to facilitate accommodation and transportation services. Additionally, there will be efforts to reduce transportation expenses by restructuring the housing plan. The government is also focusing on supporting student activities and developing smart administration to provide remote services for students’ convenience and to improve the quality of life within universities.
