UK Parliament Shows Support for Sahrawi Self-Determination
British MP Jeremy Corbyn's statements reaffirm his support for the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination, calling on the UK government to support United Nations efforts to conduct a referendum under international supervision to ensure the end of the Moroccan occupation of the occupied Sahrawi territories. Corbyn revealed that he submitted a parliamentary memorandum in June of last year, advocating for enabling the Sahrawi people to exercise their legitimate right to self-determination. He noted that this initiative reflects a growing demand within the British Parliament for policies that align with international legitimacy. These moves come amid ongoing Sahrawi demands to complete the process of decolonization, despite international criticism of Moroccan control over the occupied territories and UN resolutions affirming the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination.
