Residents of four countries feel quake in Egypt
Egypt experienced an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 on the Richter scale, striking the Lake Regions area north of Suez City early on August 3, 2026. The quake caused buildings to shake and instilled fear among residents in several governorates. The head of the Seismology Department at the National Institute of Astronomical Research confirmed that the earthquake was strong and widely felt, with aftershocks expected in the coming hours. No reports of casualties or property damage have been received, but the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre warned of the possibility of aftershocks that could impact the region.
