Algeria urges Arab efforts to defend Jerusalem

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and the Palestinian Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, affirmed that the protection of Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem) demands joint Arab and Islamic efforts focused on three priorities: countering unilateral statements and measures that alter the city's historical and legal character; maintaining the legal and historical status of Islamic and Christian holy sites and supporting the Hashemite guardianship over them; and strengthening the resilience of Jerusalemites by supporting Palestinian institutions in the city. He emphasized that Jerusalem is a critical focal point facing significant challenges, and that Arab and Islamic action requires a level of cooperation commensurate with the scale of the challenges posed by assaults on the city and the Palestinian national project.
