Former Algerian player Mahdi Tahrat announced his retirement from football after a 15-year career at the age of 36. His decision was not due to a decline in his technical level but was driven by family reasons, specifically his desire to spend more time with his aging parents. Tahrat played for several clubs, most notably Lille, Paris FC, Angers, and Valenciennes, and also participated in the Saudi and Qatari leagues before finishing his career in Thailand. He earned 19 international caps with the Algerian national team and won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2019 and the Arab Cup in 2021. He believes that his achievements will remain among the most prominent highlights of his career. Currently, he is studying to obtain specialized certifications in the sports field and aspires to work in sports management in the future as a sports director.
