Spain enhances border security against illegal migration

The Spanish authorities have implemented heightened security measures on the borders of Ceuta and Melilla to strengthen the control of unauthorized migration, following recent mass crossing events at the Tarajal crossing in Ceuta. The Spanish Navy dispatched two war frigates, "Santa Maria" and "Navarra," to waters off Ceuta as part of a plan to enhance maritime security and combat drug trafficking and illegal migration activities. Additionally, the maritime barrier system has been expanded to include Melilla in order to enforce the immediate return of migrants attempting to cross by swimming after bypassing the barriers, with a legal framework established for security forces' intervention operations.
