Algerian Clubs' Different Tasks in Africa
The two-round qualifying draw for the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup determined the matchups for the Algerian clubs participating in the two competitions for the 2026-2027 season. Mouloudia Algeria will face Nigelec from Niger in the first qualifying round, with the first leg scheduled to be played outside Algeria in September and the return leg in Algeria. There may also be a subsequent matchup against a team from Nigeria or Benin. Meanwhile, Chabab Sidi Bel Abbes will compete against Horia Conakry from Guinea, with the first and second legs scheduled between Algeria and Guinea in September and October. In the CAF Confederation Cup, the Algerian Football Federation was exempted from the preliminary round. The winner of the matchup between teams from Equatorial Guinea and Mauritania will face off, while CR Belouizdad will face the winner of a match between two Guinean teams. All matches are scheduled to be played between October outside and inside Algeria. It is expected that 61 teams will participate in the Champions League, and 56 clubs in the Confederation Cup.
