Wildfire prompts additional evacuations in southwest France

A large wildfire in southwest France has led to the evacuation of over 220,000 people in the Gironde region, near Bordeaux, as flames approach the city. Gusting winds and a fire burning since midweek have prompted evacuations and the partial closure of a major highway. A second fire in nearby Landes has evacuated an additional 30,000 people, and in Spain, authorities have evacuated 70,000 due to fires west of Madrid.
