Analysis of Trump’s latest tariffs
The Trump administration has implemented tariffs exceeding 10% on over 60 countries, citing their alleged failure to enforce import bans on goods produced with forced labor. These tariffs, applied under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974, aim to address what the U.S. describes as unjustifiable trade practices, but many countries dispute the justification, calling the findings arbitrary. The move follows the expiration of temporary tariffs and faces criticism for its vague evidence and potential economic impact on industries such as textiles.
