£50,000 vs £1m chance
A survey found that most people prefer a guaranteed £50,000 over a 50/50 chance of winning £1 million, with 73% choosing the sure amount. Women were significantly more risk-averse than men, and younger adults showed a greater willingness to take the gamble. The results reflect psychological tendencies to prioritize certainty over potential larger rewards, influenced by feelings of loss aversion and risk perception.
