No secure choices for Sudan city residents
Thousands of displaced civilians have sought shelter in the city of el-Obeid amid ongoing fighting in Sudan, with the Sudanese military reinforcing defenses against advancing paramilitary forces of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Despite the city's heavy defense and recent efforts to secure key infrastructure, concerns persist that the RSF may launch an attack, potentially repeating atrocities seen in previous conflicts. Deteriorating conditions include food and water shortages, destroyed infrastructure caused by drone strikes, and increased tensions between locals and displaced populations, amid threats from the RSF to advance on el-Obeid.
