Flash flood risk moves to New England
A powerful summer storm is causing widespread heavy rain and flash flood warnings across the Northeast, especially in western and central Massachusetts, southern Vermont, and parts of Connecticut. Over 28 million people are under flood watches as the storm brings 2 to 4 inches of rain, with localized totals up to 7 inches in mountainous areas, creating a significant risk of life-threatening flooding. The storm has already caused water rescues and road closures across the region, with additional heavy rainfall expected later Wednesday across Boston and southern New England.
