Sending agents to reporters' homes threatens press freedom
The U.S. Department of Justice withdrew subpoenas that targeted New York Times reporters regarding their coverage of President Trump's Air Force One after serving armed agents at their homes. The incident raised concerns over government overreach, intimidation of the press, and violations of press freedom, especially given the reporters' legal counsel was not properly contacted beforehand. The reporting focused on security flaws and taxpayer spending related to the aircraft, which the government argued was of national security interest.
