Lost sermons of a saint found after 1600 years
Researchers have authenticated two previously unknown sermons attributed to St. Augustine, dating from the 12th century and discovered in a medieval manuscript. The sermons explore the biblical story of the Witch of Endor and King Saul, notably suggesting that Saul could have been redeemed through repentance, which is an unconventional interpretation in early Christianity. The findings offer new insights into Augustine’s thought, highlighting themes of salvation and moral humility.
