Senator urges Hegseth and Caine to block military involvement
Michigan Senator Elissa Slotkin pressed Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to confirm that the Department of Defense would not send U.S. troops to polling places or seize election materials during the upcoming midterms. She expressed concerns that former President Trump has been laying the groundwork to dispute election results by potentially involving the military, citing past instances of military and National Guard deployment. The Pentagon has stated it will respond directly, and officials emphasized that the military is committed to remaining apolitical in election matters.
