School board member faces calls to resign over racial slur claim
A Fresno school board member, Keshia Thomas, admitted that her prior claim that a high school football coach called her son a racial slur was false. She initially made the accusation in 2022, leading to a defamation lawsuit filed by the coach, Don Arax. Both Thomas and her son later acknowledged that her statements were inaccurate, prompting the district to reconsider whether to continue covering her legal expenses. Thomas has apologized but has stated she will not resign, criticizing efforts by the union to pressure her to do so.
